Michelle and Hay

I always go and check out the location of a wedding before it happens. Yesterday, I went to meet with Michelle and Hay, a super awesome couple that will be getting married at the Diamond Bar Center. I can’t tell you how inspired I was by this beautiful location and this sweet couple. I can’t wait for their wedding day, when I get to photograph all of them for real! 😉 Here’s a picture I snapped from last night. Isn’t this place amazing?

I’ll never forget these hugs…

I love how Little T hugs me. He hugs me when he’s happy, when he’s excited, when he’s unsure, and when he’s scared. I wish it were like that for me, where all I ever needed to feel safe was a hug.

Where I live if someone gives you a hug it’s from the heart.

This is the first time since I’ve met Big T that I haven’t done anything special for the Superbowl. But then again, I’m painting my nails a peaceful shade of grey, sipping some chocolate almond-milk with a cinnamon stick, and I have the entire house to myself for a few hours-so maybe it’s a special day after all. Besides, I’m not completely missing out on the fun. Our neighbors to our left, right, and directly behind are watching the game and I can hear a chorus of cheers every time something exciting happens. 😉

I’m recuperating from a family trip to Disneyland. We had a great time, but I’m exhausted! Instead of going to watch the Superbowl with the two T’s, I’m working on a blog post with a few tips on what to do with toddlers at the Park. I’m going to keep developing the list as time goes on, so please let me know if you have anything for me to add.

In the meantime, here are a few quick pictures that I snapped last night! I *hope hope hope* this area is open for an engagement shoot I have at the end of the month. It’s one of my favorite areas of the park, but I think they’re going to do construction there in the near future. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

To my American friends, have a great Superbowl Sunday! To my non-American friends, have a great Sunday, Sunday!

Helping out backstage for a beautiful Disney Wedding in the Animation Building:

Leaving ransom notes in exchange for my all time favorite vegan cookies from The Last Drop Cafe ;):

The moment where you think, “do I help him out??? Or do I let this play out for a few seconds more while I take a picture?” mwaha

Speaking of Little T, he loves to copy me lately. His favorite mommy thing to do right now is throw on a scarf and pretend to take Miss Piggy on a walk.

He’s also training to be a news reporter, didn’t you know?

Meeting with some beautiful girls about a bridal portrait shoot:

Every once in a while, we drive by Mother’s Market. It’s a good thing this is rare, because vegan junk food is inevitable when we make this stop:

*pictured below* Tofurky Frozen Pizza, Vegan Cookie Dough, Butternut Squash Ravioli, Coconut Yogurt, Oatmeal Cookies for our DL trip this week, and fake mac and cheese (we throw in some green peas and make this for Little T when we’re in a pinch).

To even out the junkiness, we also shared some yummy beet juice. Note to parents: beet juice makes for a very interesting diaper change.

And my *zomgsquee* thing of the week! One of my fancy new camera lenses arrived, with it’s beautiful red ring and everything!

Unfortunately, this moment was short lived, because it was followed by Little T grabbing my 50mm lens and smashing it onto the floor. The good thing is that of all my lenses, he smashed the cheapest. The bad news: it was my favorite lenssssss. Gah!

But what can you do? He didn’t know what he was doing. It was a good lesson to learn that we need to make sure we keep our camera equipment away from sweet Little T. 🙂

And that was my week, I hope you had a great one!

Our Last Resort

Last night was one of those nights. You know, the-my cranky baby won’t stop crying and I’ve tried everything, including marching around the living room with a cardboard tube as a baton to make him happy-kind of nights. It was time for drastic measures, so we brought out the dollar pack of glow sticks that we’d stored away in case of a baby boredom emergency. Big T had suggested buying them a while back for a weekend trip. We could only pack a few toys, and they were the perfect size for our travel bag. We never used them, but they came in handy last night.

We made the glow sticks into bracelets for Little T, along with hats and necklaces. Little T loved them and wore the glow sticks on his feet and waved them in the air. This led to us waving them in the air, which led to us grabbing the camera to get fun glow-stick pictures.

At first we just waved them around:

But then we got fancy:

We’re out of glow sticks now, so I guess it was a one time thing. Maybe they’ll pop up in the dollar bin at Target again someday.

I can’t think of a better way to start a Monday than with pictures of the most adorable kitten on the block.

Meet Flower, aka Tigerlily, (p.s. you can read the story of this kitten here.)

Hello everyone,

Lately these posts have been leaning more towards my journey as a photographer, and I want to thank you for coming along on the ride! I decided to pick up the camera again because there weren’t any teaching jobs left. Those of you that have known me for a while, know that I tried to be a videographer/photographer before, but was _horrible_ at the business stuff (I’ve gotten much better at that, now that I have a baby to feed :p). The thing is, since I’ve started working as a photographer, I simply can’t imagine doing anything else! It brings me so much joy to photograph the special moments in people’s lives.

Now, on to the good news…I was fortunate enough to be added to the Disney Preferred Vendor list. I keep pinching myself to see if it’s all real! I absolutely love working with the ladies over there. They have so much love for what they do, and it’s great to be able to share that with them.

This is the calm before the storm for me, because things are going to get very exciting in the next couple of months. I can’t wait to share all of this with you.

I debated creating a new blog that’s just for my photography, but I also want to share my life with my clients so they can get to know me a little better. I wanted to let you know that I’ll be linking this blog to my photography website. I’ll still be writing about Little T and my family, but I’m going to be including more of my photographic adventures along the way. I hope you stick with me for the rest of the journey, because I’d love to have you there.

Love,

Jenna (aka Momma J)

This week at I Heart Faces, the challenge is Family Fun. I can’t think of a better time to use the photo of the kids in our family having a blast with bubbles.

It’s the simple things, right?

Because of the week I’d had, I wasn’t feeling up to socializing-but socializing and getting out of the house turned out to be just what I needed to get my mind off things.

I while ago, I joined the O.C. Association of Bridal Consultants for my photography work.  Every month, they have a networking event where you go and meet other professionals and learn about new trends in the industry. Kelly, from Disney Fairy Tale Weddings has been my mentor in helping me learn about the ABC. I’m so grateful that she’s taken the time out of her busy schedule to show me the ropes.

The event was beautiful, and held at Alisa Viejo Conference Center. Some of the vendors I talked with throughout the night were Erika, a wedding coordinator from Erika’s Elegance, and Steve Moses, owner of Vantage Point Productions (videography). I also sat with Ron Levy and his wife from Ron Levy Photography, and we had so much to talk about. These were just a few of the people I’d met throughout the evening.

It was a great night, and I’m looking forward to doing more of these events. Everyone was so friendly and kind. So, I leave you with a video that Steve Moses filmed of the ABC members. You can see how fun and creative these people are. I’m really looking forward to getting to know them better.

Top Chef New Years Challenge

Here’s how we spent our New Year’s Eve, having a tasty Top Chef style challenge, I hope you enjoy the photos from our night.

Secret ingredients and quick fire challenge revealed: Make an appetizer with two ingredients that are known around the world to bring good luck on New Year’s Day. Black eyed peas, collard greens, cabbage, raisins, grapes, and champagne.

They drew knives to see who would choose their ingredients first. Scott decided on black eyed peas and currants, and Big T decided on collard greens and champagne. Here’s Scott cooking away:

The winning dish, doesn’t look like much but it was delicious:

The winner had 30 dollars to spend at the grocery store for the next part of our challenge, the loser only had 25. For part two, they had to go to the grocery store and buy ingredients to prepare dinner. They had to incorporate brussels sprouts and grapefruit into the meal.

15 minutes to shop:

Keeping track of time:

A twist! Pick out an ingredient for your competitor to use:

Big T had to leave a grapefruit out because he’d gone over the limit:

Plating:

Cooking:

Scott made grapefruit risotto with a roasted brussel sprout topping. Big T made pasta with a brussel sprout pesto sauce and a grapefruit salad. Both dinners were sooooo good and disappeared fast, but Scott was the winner in the end. What a delicious evening it was. We definitely need a repeat with some other chef friends involved (I’m looking at you, KD, Sonal, Michelle and Andrew!)
