Little T is exceptionally skilled at convincing people to give him balloons.

And drumsticks, this was given to him by one of the drummers in a Disney parade after they saw him drumming:

extreme sports-Baby Acrobat edition:

Everyone watching with Little T as he goes through a glass elevator for the first time:

Pretty new shoes:

Little T has finally found a place where he can shout all he wants:

Big T getting a major award. (Christmas Story reference intentional)

My favorite beverage in the whole wide world=Lavender Lemonade:

Brushing Little T’s hair has turned into an active experience that involves me chasing him around the house with a hair pick.

Scott’s “baby”, Miss Molly.

Valentines Day dinner before Fiddler on the Roof. This was made while we wondered why baby tomatoes are always thrown in a salad. The answer? To be used as a nose in food art, obviously. You can’t take us anywhere.

Little T’s lunchbox for his plane trip= Clementine Oranges, Edamame, Kashi Snack Bar, Blueberries, and Organic Bunny Grahams. Not pictured=pasta salad.

Almost ready to go, Angel does not approve of the packing arrangements so far.

That was our week, I hope you all had a great one. 🙂

Meeting Little T’s Daycare Teacher

Two of the couples I’ve photographed have made it into the Disney Wedding Blog finals! If you have a moment, please take a second to vote for Michelle and AJ for Best Proposal, and Wendy and Patrick for Best Floral. Thank you so much!

In other news, we took Little T to daycare to meet his teacher today. Now I know how parents felt when they came to meet me for the first time (I used to teach kindergarten). I was so anxious on the way to daycare. I remember one of my teaching mentors telling me that parents want someone who is going to love and care their child. Someone who will understand that they have faults, but love them anyway for it. I could relate to that today. I walked up to the daycare center, all the while thinking, “please-please-please let her be someone who will love Little T, even though he has a tendency to shout, loves to get into everything, and believes that everything should be tested out with a drumstick.” While we waited in the office, the receptionist laughed as Little T danced for everyone who walked in the door. He played around the other kids during observation time, but kept running back and saying “Momma” to make sure I was still there. If that doesn’t tear at your heartstrings, I don’t know what will. 😉 I loved the daycare teacher and felt better knowing it’s an environment that fits my style of parenting.

It’s going to be hard not having Little T around me every second of the day, but I have four weddings and five engagements next month, and I’m going to need some time to work. I’m sure he’ll also benefit from having time with other babies. Ugh, it’s still hard. Logically I know it makes sense, but emotionally…

I’m all grown up and stuff…

When was the moment you realized you were an adult?

I thought I’d feel like an adult when I moved out of my parent’s house, but I didn’t.

Then I thought, when I become a teacher I’ll feel like an adult…but that didn’t do the trick either.

Then I figured I’d feel like a grown up when I got married, because what’s more grown up than getting married? But no, I still didn’t feel like an official adult.

When my husband and I bought our house-and we could paint our own walls with whatever color we wanted (I was so tired of white apartment walls), I was certain I’d feel like a grown up-but I still felt like a youngster at heart.

I knew that when we adopted our son, I’d finally feel like an adult. But, no. I still didn’t feel like a grown up.

I started my own business, and that got me on my way to feeling a little more adultish, but…

I was talking to an old friend the other day about how weird he felt carrying a briefcase, and I came to the realization that I officially felt like an adult when I purchased my first purse a few months ago. I’ve never owned a “purse” before. I’ve carried around backpacks and wallets, but never a purse.

I felt like a lady, all grown up.

A purse, who would have thought…?

Our blog was nominated for one of the top vegan blogs over at Circle of Moms! If you’re liking my blog, please share the love and send a vote my way:

In honor of our vegan nomination, Little T scarfed down an entire container of blueberries. That kid and his blueberries! I wish we could grow them, but they never survive with all the birds around our house.

M sent me this picture this morning…

~Willie Nelson

When Big T and I met, one of the biggest things we had in common was that neither of us needed a lot to be happy. We’re thankful to have each other, our little family and our sweet babycakes, a roof over our heads, employment, good food, and enough money to enjoy the occasional family outing.

But one of the biggest things we are thankful for, is our support network of family and friends. How would we ever get by without the people we’ve crossed paths with in our daily lives and on the internet? Our network has been there to celebrate the good, cry with us through the bad, and support us in everything we do. We are so fortunate to know that if anything ever happened, we’d have places to go and people who would help us pick up the pieces. Not everyone has that, and we are grateful that we do.

So, dear friends. This Thanksgiving, we are thinking of you. Thank you for being a part of our lives. Aw, mush. We love you guys.

DIY Firefly Lights

Firefly lights make an evening magical, and they’re really very easy to do.

What you need:

Battery Operated Flickering Lights

Little Black Doggie Trash Bags for cleaning up…well, you know.

String or twine

DIY Firefly Lights

Not the best picture, but you get the idea. All you need to do is tie the trash bag around the lights, stick the flame part through, and tie some yarn or string. You can just place them in your yard, but hanging makes it look like they’re swaying and moving around. We placed them all around our yard, and when the lights went out our guests were really delighted.

To add a little more ambiance, we played music that was just sound effects of crickets chirping.

Puck's Love Potion

The goblets turned out great and everyone loved getting a sip as they entered the party. We filled them with champagne and a fresh raspberry.

Fairy Thrones

We made Fairy Thrones for guests to sit in. They turned out to be a fun focal point for the evening, and lots of our guests took a break to drink wine in the Fairy Thrones.

Masquerade

The Lanterns

The lanterns looked great with our grape vines.

Butterfly Lantern idea was from MarthaStewart.com

We picked up these lanterns from Michaels, and bought cheap scrapbook paper for the butterflies. The butterfly pattern was downloaded from MarthStewart.com.

Doves with Fresh Mint and Lemon Drops

We placed these on the tables for a sweet breath freshener.

Bubble Entrance

To make the entrance a little more magical, we had bubbles coming out of the cat door onto the walkway to our yard. We dressed up the door and floor more with rose petals, tiki torches from the dollar store, and mint.

Shakespeare Insult Game

For a fun game, we made insult cards with the use of an online Shakespeare Insult Generator. Whenever you heard somebody say the word “mask”, you gave them an insult card.

Gift Bags

We gave away a copy of “Midsummer Night’s Dream” in the gift bags.
