Things Little T has done this week that are super adorable:

Taken a tissue and attempted to blow his nose like Momma J.
Started blowing kisses while saying “mwahhhhhhhh”. It’s funny to hear his version of what we sound like.
Discovered he loves streaking, and runs down the hall giggling and laughing whenever he can get away before his bath.

Things Little T has done this week that are not-so-super-adorable:

Went through a biting phase, thankfully this ended when he discovered that biting is followed by time out.
Started screaming in imitation of Momma J, who was doing a silly opera voice. Oh, how I wish I hadn’t done that.
Discovered he loves streaking, and runs down the hall giggling and laughing whenever he can get away during a diaper change.

He certainly keeps things interesting around here.

Learning to Clap

This week over at I Heart Faces is a focus on hands, so I’m posting a photo of Little T learning to clap with Big T. Little T is very proud that he’s mastered this new skill. We are too, because he’s starting to clap for us all the time. Nothing boosts your ego more than hearing applause as you enter a room, do a dance, sing a song, or make a meal. At some point, I’m certain that one of the grandma’s is going to pull Little T aside and tell him to stop encouraging his wacky parents. But until then, you can find me singing, “if you’re happy and you know it…”

If you happen to stop by Whole Foods, Henry’s, Sprouts, or any other natural food store, check out our family in the latest issue of Kiwi Magazine. They interviewed us about our adoption, and they even included a picture of my little babycakes.

Trevor couldn’t help poking fun at me, because I had this unfounded fear that the story would end up being something like “the dark side of adoption”, or “who on earth let these people be parents?” I know you’re surprised when I say it was a very nice article, right? 😉

Elizabeth Foy Larsen, the author who interviewed us, was very easy to talk with. We knew we were in good hands. The article breaks down the three different types of adoption, something you learn a lot about when you start the adoption process. It’s a great read, if I do say so myself.

Yesterday when you wrapped your little arms around me, I asked if you’d stay my sweet baby boy forever.

You tilted your little head up so you could see me, and enthusiastically shouted, “GAH!”

I’m taking that as a yes. 😉

It was the day of a million doctor visits…

Monday was a busy day. We had to drive to CHOC to get the results of Little T’s MRI, then we had to drive to the neurologist in another city to go over the results, and then we had to drive to another hospital to visit the burn center. It was a doctor extravaganza! That last sentence makes it sound a lot more fun than it really was, doesn’t it?

There was good news all around! Little T’s MRI came back and everything was great and just like it’s supposed to be! This means he’ll most likely grow out of his hypertonia and there aren’t any serious underlying issues. We thought this would probably be the case because of how much he’s improved, but it’s nice to have the medical documents to reassure us.

At the burn center, Little T was having a great time in the lobby. Now that he’s walking, it’s like he’s discovering a whole new world. His new favorite thing to do is to walk around and point and shout “look!”

Here’s what he wanted me to look at in the lobby:

We circled the room and he shouted for me to look at the same things over and over again. He’s such a cute little baby.

The burn center took his bandage off and said he had healed up. Isn’t it amazing that skin can grow so quickly? Little T felt his finger, bent it back and forth, and stared at it for the longest time after they took the bandage off. The doctor said he was a smart kid. I might be biased, but I agree, heh heh.
